Hong Kong Day 9:

Hi today was ok. Work was not the best. We couldn’t figure anything out and last night I could not sleep for some reason. I just could not shut off my mind and get comfortable. Boo on that! So the first part of the morning the only thing I felt like i could focus on was where I could take a nap hehe. But I woke up a lil bit more later. We actually left and talked with Dr. Fairweather about our project and he reinforced some of what Dr. Sun had told us, but it was still rather beyond us. it is hard because it is graduate level work and even Dr. Fairweather isn’t surprised that we are struggling. He said it is tough even if we have had courses about it. Anywho we got back and laid down a bit before getting ready for the reception for the conference we are all going to on Structured Matrices. Sounds exciting eh? Anywho that is going on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. And Friday we are all going on a boat cruise around Hong Kong. That sounds fun, and it will be a nice break from work.

The reception was fun, it was a dinner and I enjoyed chatting with some of the REU people (well us kids and Dr. Fairweather). The food was good, I tried some pumpkin cream soup which was really good and the fruit was good –even this thing that looked like a white kiwi. It is funny though, they misspelled my name. My name tag and name in the program says Amnad Harsy from Taylor University. Hehe. It goes well with benjamin’s misspelled name, Benchman Randy. I am surprised they didn’t spell it Amnada cus that sounds more like a girl. I guess they had mistyped my name earlier and Dr. Sun had emailed Dr. Fairweather asking if Amnad was a girl or boy. Haha. After the conference we tried to use our new ID cards to get into the gym. They wont let us. that is really annoying to us. what does it take to let us lift some weights?? Boo on that. Later Andrea, Chelsea, Nick, and I all watched the pilot of Arrested Development (I have a bunch of episodes on my computer). It was fun and Chelsea and Andrea seemed to like it. I hope we can watch more of them. =) we have to wake up early tomorrow for the conference so I should go.
Oh some add-ons from yesterday’s post. I found out that Kinnex, Tony, Sean all took the bus for about an hour to meet us for lunch. That is soooo nice. Kinnex said he would do it again sometime. I hope so, it was a lot of fun. Also Tony taught me a new face to use on IM conversations, =.= that is the face, I didn’t understand what it was for a while. I asked Tony about it and he didn’t know how to explain it. He said it wasn’t happy or sleepy or just a face like sean has when we take pictures. He said that it is like speechless. He also said that from yahoo's dictionary "=.=" means "cannot help it; to have no alternative; to have no choice". It still confuses me. =.=
